In January 2016, following consultation with the public, we submitted our initial business plan to the Scarborough Borough Council Community Asset Transfer Panel, which recommended transfer of the freehold of the Chapel to Dean Road Chapel Ltd.
The Heritage Lottery Fund awarded over £60,000 to enable us to get surveys done and architect’s plans drawn up. In September 2018, following an extensive review of all our documentation to ensure that it was still fit for purpose, we submitted our delivery phase bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for the Chapel restoration. The total project costs are in the region of £880,000 of which we need to raise c£44,000.
Pledges from local organisations and fundraising efforts have set us well on our way to this target but further donations are always welcome. We will find out if we have been successful in December 2018.
